Winery

It is an exceptional place. Surrounded by vineyards, overlooking the Leithagebirge and the Neusiedler See. Flooded with light, convertible rooms and state-of-the-art technology.

Surrounded by vineyards that invite you to breathe the fresh air and recharge your batteries, built on top of the wine cellar where the award-winning HILLINGER wines are vinified.

At winery Leo HILLINGER, quality is inextricably linked to the organic cultivation and vinification of our wines. The basic principle: we must have performed all necessary measures with due conviction, and thus dedicated the necessary care right up to harvest time. Our work in the cellar is essentially characterized by one principle: letting the grapes become wine. We want to allow natural developments – with all that this implies – so that the wines can develop as untouched as possible. Whether in one of our 1,200 barriques, in a large wooden cask or in a 30,000 stainless steel tank. Every wine should have the opportunity to develop according to its own nature. Getting to the point: winemaking comes down to one thing at winery Leo HILLINGER: teamwork. Because only together can we achieve the best quality. White wines cultivated are Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller, the red wines are Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah and Pinot Noir.

The winery in Jois is built into the hillside, an architectural masterpiece, which was built in only one year construction time and opened in 2004. Behind it are a pair of Viennese architects who have set completely new standards in our industry with the construction of this building. The windows in the winery are oriented to the north, so there is no direct heat radiation from the sun, and yet there is sufficient daylight. Due to the underground construction of our cellar, we achieve a constant temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit regardless of the outside temperature, the optimal environment for our precious wines.
